Loving Life

It is amazing what a location change can give an individual.

Chicago Views

In moving to Chicago just a short month ago, I have been able to experience a plethora of things that otherwise would have been left unknown. Recently rediscovering the passion to volunteer has been a major inspiration. There are endless opportunities in the city to help out and fulfilling the needs of the community is uplifting to one's spirit. There are of course social activities here that I have been lucky enough to take part in such as flag-football, concerts, running and sporting events. Adding to that a bit of shopping, along with networking to meet new people, and we have discovered the reason in which I love the city.

A solo move to a new place may seem challenging to many; but some how I feel I just got very lucky with how quickly I have been able to adapt. There are so many reasons to love life and I feel like what I have discovered thus far is just the start.

The daily difference

I awoke Wednesday morning and decided to take a run. I am not an avid runner--aspiring maybe--but the brisk morning run took some stress away. After getting ready, I stopped at my local coffee shop to grab a latte, and then headed to work. A typical day. After opening the branch, I helped customers with their banking. Apparently one customer really liked the service I provided him with. I hadn't met him before, but helped him and conversed with him, as I do with all my customers. After I finished his transaction, he smiled, thanked me, and left.

About 20 minutes later the man came back holding a card in his hand.

"This is for you," he said. "You deserve it!"

I didn't know what to say, but I managed a quick 'thank you' as he left.

I opened the card and read the special note he wrote inside.

It read as follows:

Dear Krystal,

Very rarely do I meet people with such an incredible attitude! Thank you for starting my day off in a pleasant manner!

With love from the heart,

Your friend Paul.

We all make a daily difference in others lives, whether we notice it or not. I only hope I can have a positive impact like this on someone everyday!

Why not

There are many things that make up one's personality. I have always been a goal oriented individual. I take great pride in accomplishing things with proficiency and accuracy; thus, once one goal has been obtained, I'm on to the next. After finishing schooling, I debated heavily on where to start out my professional life. My solution to this fork in the road--skydive.
It's amazing how jumping out of plane can give you a different outlook on things.

Where to begin...

What better time than the present?

After traveling to different areas of the country and experiencing what those states have to offer, I have found the buzz of the city--somewhere along the way--got stuck in my mind. I recently decided to pursue the dream I've always had to move out of the state and apply the degree I obtained in Marketing. I look forward to the challenges that lie ahead and the experiences that can only be gained from a solo move such as this.
